NOWCA Sub-10

Sub10 refers to water temperature that drops below 10°C.

The Sub10 Club is NOWCA’s cold water community that swim through the Winter when water temperatures are most likely to drop below 10°C.  The ethos is to help and support like minded swimmers and to enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of cold water swimming in a safe setting.

As part of the Sub10 Club, NOWCA tally each member’s winter swim and reward swimmers with an embroidered badge at their 10, 25 and 50 Sub10 swim milestones for the season!

Distance and timed swims DO NOT form part of the Sub10 requirements. This initiative promotes self-awareness in cold water through education and stringent safety practices. There is also no minimum or maximum number of swims for any period of time.

The purpose is to connect with others that enjoy cold water swimming in a safe and beautiful setting.

NOTE: NOWCA no longer run the Virtual Sub10 Club. Virtual swims are not included in the tally on the scoreboard. All swims must be booked on the ACTiO app (exceptions apply) and completed in-person at any participating venue for it to be included on the scoreboard and qualify for your award badge. Swimming “Events” are not eligible for a Sub10 Club tally.

NOWCA Wild Sub-10

The Wild Sub10 Club is a dedicated space to share experiences, connect, and celebrate the joy of winter swimming. Every swim in water below 10°C is logged and contributes to your personal tally, unlocking milestone digital badges along the way. There are no minimum swim times - just a fun, supportive way to embrace the thrill and achievement that comes with immersing yourself in really cold water.

NOWCA Wild brings you into a community of cold water swimmers, united to inspire, support, and share this journey together. Log every swim on NOWCA Wild to keep a diary of your progress. Use the NOWCA Wild app to add the water temperature and swim notes. Each Sub10 plunge is recorded and added to your personal tally to earn your virtual Sub10 badges. Share these beautiful digital markers to show your resilience and devotion to your wellbeing.

The Difference Your Dips Make

What our parents said:

“My daughter, Isie, has been having lessons for some time now and has made progress beyond all our hopes and dreams! When she started lessons she was too nervous to let the water go above her knee! Now she can swim a length on her back and jumps in the deep end - doing it in a way that suits her abilities.”

“Freddie managed his 25 meter front crawl and already managed 25 on his back this last Saturday and while that is a fantastic achievement for him, what is equally important to me is the rise in his confidence and wellbeing in general.  Freddie has been at time painfully shy and both Gwen and Ellie have been just fantastic. I am struggling to find the words for how much we appreciate you everything that you have done for Freddie and our family.”

“Have to say the swim teacher Clark has got at K2, Kelsey, is absolutely amazing. She's not only a great swim teacher (obvs!) but she's a natural born therapist. She really does get the best out of him - I've only seen Clark respond to one other therapist like this and that was in America! So impressed with her - she's capable of big things.”
