SWANS UK X Level Water

“Swimming should be for everyone - and enjoyable for everyone”: Why SWANS and Level Water make the perfect pair.

Sunshine, sea air, and stories from the swim - we recently caught up with Jess from SWANS on a beautiful beach day in Bantham to talk about why this iconic goggle brand is supporting Level Water this year, and how our shared values make for such a strong fit.

SWANS is the oldest goggle company in the world - and it shows, not just in their technical precision, but in their passion for making swimming something everyone can access, enjoy, and do comfortably.

At Level Water, we’re on a mission to make access to swimming lessons fairer. We provide 1-to-1 swimming lessons for children with disabilities - helping them learn to swim, gain confidence, and access the joy, health and freedom that water can offer. Our work removes barriers, builds skills, and creates opportunities - not just to survive in water, but to thrive in it.

“We believe everyone should be able to swim - whether you like it or you don’t like it! Accidents can happen in just an inch of water, so it’s a life skill,” Jess explains. “We’re really proud to support disabled athletes through our work with para swimming - and working with Level Water is a natural extension of that.”

That belief in access resonates deeply with us. Equal access to swimming should be a given - but for disabled children, it often isn’t. That’s why we exist, and why we’re proud to work with sponsors and partners who help us change that.

Comfort = Confidence

Of course, a shared mission is one thing - but having the right kit is what makes that mission possible. And for SWANS, comfort isn’t just a bonus - it’s the foundation of everything.

“We design, research and manufacture our own goggles in Japan. We obsess over details -  from the softness of the silicone to making sure your goggles don’t fog or scratch. We want people to swim for hours and not have to touch their goggles once.”

Whether it’s a child learning to float for the first time, or someone taking on a three-hour river swim at one of our events, feeling confident in your kit changes everything.

“It’s like trainers,” Jess adds. “You need the right fit. If you’re not comfortable, you’re not going to enjoy the swim.”

Seeing the Bigger Picture

Level Water enables swimming lessons across the country and hosts some of the UK’s most loved open water events - including the Bantham Swoosh and Hurly Burly. These experiences create connection, joy, and impact - and the right goggles are a small but mighty part of that.

“We swim in some of the most beautiful rivers in the country,” says Jess. “And like sunglasses, you want to be able to see what’s around you. Our lenses protect from UVA and UVB, and we even have adaptive lenses that adjust from dawn to dusk - perfect for long-distance or overnight swims.”

That level of care in design makes all the difference. The more we can support swimmers to feel good in the water - whether they’re just starting out or chasing something big - the more they’ll keep swimming.

Shared Values, Shared Goals

At Level Water, we believe in being Bold, Driven, Personal and Joyful - and those values run through everything we do, from poolside to finish line. They’re also a big part of why this partnership with SWANS UK works so well.

“We’re both trying to make swimming better for more people,” Jess shared. “And we both care deeply about the details - about doing things properly, and creating something high quality that lasts.”

SWANS echoes that approach in its work:

“We never settle,” Jess explains. “We tweak models, test new materials, and think constantly about different needs. We want to get better every year - and support more people along the way.”

And while SWANS is just one of several brilliant partners helping to make our events and programmes possible this year, their support is a vital part of the bigger picture - one that’s helping more people access the water in comfort and confidence.

The Start of Something Bigger

This partnership isn’t just about products or branding. It’s about making swimming safer, more inclusive, and more joyful for everyone. And that’s something we’re building with every lesson, every event, and every supporter who joins us.

If you’re taking part in a Level Water event this summer - or if your child is learning to swim through one of our lessons - you’re part of a movement. And thanks to the support of amazing partners like SWANS (and others who share our vision), that movement is only getting stronger.

Here’s to comfort, confidence, and equal access to the water. Let’s keep swimming.
