Remembering Ashley: A Swimming Teacher's Legacy Lives On Through Level Water
Ashley’s Team after the Wolf Run
Last year, the swimming community lost a bright light when Ashley, a 27-year-old local swimming teacher, passed away. Known for his dedication to teaching children of all ages to swim, Ashley was absolutely adored by everyone who knew him or had the privilege of learning from him.
A Fitting Tribute
Ashley's friends and family knew that Level Water would be a charity he would be extremely proud to support. With its mission to provide swimming lessons for children with disabilities, Level Water embodies the same values Ashley lived by: inclusion, compassion, and the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to learn to swim.
The Wolf Run Challenge
On 13th September 2025, a dedicated group of Ashley's friends and family came together to honour his memory in a meaningful way. They participated in the Wolf Run, a challenging 5k obstacle course event held in Leamington Spa. Despite the physical demands of the course, the team pushed through, united by their love for Ashley and their commitment to supporting a cause close to his heart.
Incredible Fundraising Success
Through their collective efforts on Givestar, the team raised an impressive £2,955. With Gift Aid, this brought the total to an outstanding £3,453.75 for Level Water.
But the fundraising didn't stop there. Ellie Khan, New Build Senior Sales Advisor at Persimmon Homes, secured an additional corporate donation of £500 from their employer, demonstrating how Ashley's impact continues to inspire generosity in the wider community.
A Lasting Impact
The total funds raised—nearly £4,000—will help provide vital swimming lessons to children with disabilities, ensuring that Ashley's passion for teaching swimming continues to make a difference in young lives. Through Level Water, his legacy of patience, dedication, and love for the water will touch countless families.
We are deeply grateful to Ashley's friends, family, and Persimmon Homes for their incredible support. Their dedication honours Ashley's memory in the most beautiful way possible—by helping other children experience the joy and freedom of swimming.
