You’re half way there!

Well done on raising £125, you’re half way to your target of £250

More about Suveer …

Tanvi is so thankful for Suveer's lessons with Level Water, if she could she would have a pool at home as Suveer is confident, happy and thrives in the water.

9 year old Suveer has muscular dystrophy. Last year Suveer's mum, Tanvi found out about Level Water and applied for lessons. In a few weeks Suveer was in the water with his new teacher, Emma. 3 months on and the pair have a beautiful relationship. Suveer smiles as Emma takes him through a course she has tailored specifically for his needs: combining Swim England's learn-to-swim pathway with hydrotherapy that helps Suveer's mobility.

Tanvi mentions that friends who haven't seen Suveer in a while comment on how his mobility has improved. Tanvi however can only see his decline. Suveer will keep losing muscle mass and in a few years will be reliant on a wheelchair.

Tanvi is preparing for this by becoming a full time carer and giving up her career in quality assurance. She is also wondering how to find an accessible secondary school for Suveer (his current primary school are incredibly adaptive and have no stairs so it's easy for Suveer to move around). The family are looking to move home to ensure Suveer can have freedom of movement that other children his age take for granted. Getting access to basic needs for him is a constant battle, but at least Suveer can now learn to swim without facing any barriers because of his disability.

A special shout out to Leisure Centre Manager Marina, who have made Level Water welcome to poolside to take videos and is open to many more visits. One centre out of 198 that we work with that are making such a big difference in the lives of children with disabilities and their families.

Suveer might need to move home, find a school but at least he can keep on swimming at the same pool.

Fundraising Ideas

  • Sponsor my swim

Ask your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor your swim challenge. Share content from our pools so they can see where their money goes.

  • Make & Sell

Everyone loves a bake sale. Or maybe you’ve got other skills? Whether it’s cakes or artwork, think about setting your price as a ‘donation’. People can be more generous than you think.

  • Guided Walk

Do you know anywhere really special close to home? Think about organising a guided walk and pointing out local landmarks. It’s always a joy to get out in nature.

  • Quizzes

Whether it’s in a local pub, cafe or your children’s school. Running a quiz is a really fun way to get people involved, and a good opportunity to tell them about Level Water.

  • Match-giving

Your workplace may be able to match your fundraising to double your donations. Make sure to ask in advance if your company can help to support you after the swim.

  • Car wash

Grab a bucket, sponge and your rollerskates to provide a service for your town. The joy of this is that everyone can join in. Be sure to advertise in advance so people can pop in.

  • 30-day challenge

Don’t shave your beard, do daily yoga, give up alcohol. What can you do for 30 days? Remind people throughout the month you are doing Veganuary and it’s for a good cause.

  • Dinner party

Got skills in the kitchen? Cook up a storm and host for your besties. Set a price or offer ‘pay as you feel’ for your friends to make a donation.

  • Dog walks

Any furry friends in your neighbourhood? Take them out for adventures and save the legwork of their owners. People will be happy to donate in return.

  • Waterside litter-pick

Help keep your community clean and ask your friends to make a small donation to litter-pick with you. Two good causes wrapped up in one.

  • Raffle

No-one ever buys just one raffle ticket. You could sell tickets at your next training swim or meeting friends for a coffee. Prizes could be small or large.

  • Auction

In person or online or silently. Auctions are a great way to engage your supporters with what you are taking on. Prizes could come from friends, family, local businesses.

  • Film night

Have friends over for a film night and charge a donation. You could up sell and offer them some tasty snacks or even have a bar.

  • Disco

Dancing makes us happy. Host a disco, silent or otherwise. You could entertain your sister’s kids and ask her for a donation. Why not add a couple of party games too.

  • Treasure Hunt

Hide a prize at a local venue and send your friends and family out with a couple of clues. Great way to get outside, build connection with each other and have some fun.

  • Art attack

Paint for fun or set people a challenge. Is there a fence or building that could do with some colourful love. Or test your friends skills with a still life.
