Join us on Sunday 19 July 2026 for the Bantham Boomerang – a unique estuary swim where you head upstream with the tide… and then ride it back to Bantham Beach. The river narrows in a “swoosh” as the ebbing tide is funnelled through a narrow section of river, speeding you along over the sandy riverbed at up to four times your usual swimming speed.
It’s exciting, invigorating, beautiful and fun. Depending on when you enter the water, you can swim anywhere from 5km to 10km – it’s your call.
The Boomerang challenges you to test your timing and strength on the way out, before enjoying the fast-flowing return. It’s a perfect choice if you want more control over your distance and love to tune-in to the power of the river as you swim.
Here’s what swimmers have to say:
“Genuinely an excellent experience all round.”
“Been thinking about Level water everyday since the swim, thinking about how to raise money and what a lasting feeling that swim left with me”
“Some of us did the Swoosh and some the Boomerang. We loved the food and drink stalls after the Boomerang and sat in the village for a while. There was a lovely atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!”
Your swim ticket includes:
Registration pack with a timing chip, numbered wristband and swim hat
Bantham Swoosh or Boomerang towel
Coach ride to or from your car
A delicious selection of snacks and food available for purchase at the start and finish area
Full safety crew on the river throughout the swim, including support boats, jetskis and paddleboarders
Medical team at the water exit if you have any niggles
Volunteer support at the start and finish of the swim
Hot chocolate or alternative when you arrive in the finish village
Getting to swim with an amazing community that you’ll be part of forever
Personalised support if you have accessibility needs
Knowing that your swim is helping to provide swimming lessons for children with disabilities, and that’s pretty wonderful
